I think with this record, it wasn't really the band discovering new influences. These are influences that have been there forever, sneaking in little by little. But this time it came more to the forefront, sort of My Bloody Valentine or Mogwai kind of things.
But then we saw Sigur Rós at Radio City Music Hall, and they just blew us away. So the next day, we started recording 'Division Street' and decided to bring in some of their noisy qualities into our music.

We've been listening to a lot of mellower stuff, but what's weird is that it's been coming out a lot heavier. On tour we listen to a lot of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mogwai, not that they are really mellow, a lot of it is heavier in a different way
