Scoot Airlines has unveiled its direct flight schedule from Singapore to Miri and is scheduled to introduce a new route to Sibu, commencing on June 5.

The federal government has given its approval to expand Miri Airport to accommodate the increasing number of tourists and travellers in the northern region.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured that the project will be expedited and will hold discussions with Transport Minister Anthony Loke and the Ministry of Finance on the matter.
He recalled that the last expansion for Miri Airport was way back during his time as Finance Minister and emphasised the need for further expansion to meet the growing demand.
The Sarawak Transport Ministry will fully cooperate with the federal Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to expedite the Miri Airport expansion project, said Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.
The state Transport Minister said that the long-awaited project has finally been approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who made the announcement during the state banquet at a leading hotel in Miri last night.
Yii said he was looking forward to this because Miri needs direct flights from abroad to help boost its tourism industry and also its economy.
“CEO of Firefly, Philip See, has mentioned that they have planned two new routes for Sarawak which are Kuching-Miri and Kuching-Kota Kinabalu starting quarter 2, 2023,” the statement said.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is set to facilitate the Intra-Borneo services transfer from Malaysia Airlines to Firefly, effective this May 16, as a result of continued demand recoveries across all markets, The group, in a press statement, said Firefly would facilitate one-time daily return flights using the Boeing 737-800 between Kota Kinabalu (BKI) and Sandakan (SDK), Tawau (TWU), and Kuching (KCH), as well as a daily return service between Kuching (KCH) and Miri (MYY).
Suresh added that Maswings would also be willing to consider additional flights for this route, especially during festive seasons.
The additional flights are meant to accommodate passengers going home for the festive season from May 28 to June 5.
