A toxicity ratio has been developed for these isotopes; it has been estimated that radium-228 is about 2.5 times as effective, per μCi, in inducing bone sarcomas as radium-226 (Lloyd et al. 1986; Rowland et al. 1978; Rundo et al. 1986).
